I needed my oil changed and Van Zeeland’s was able to fit my service in during the 4th of July holiday week which I appreciate greatly since other shops in the neighborhood chose to close the entire week or are closed down for business due to construction on Commercial Ave. I will continue to use the auto repair shop for these reasons! I had taken my car in for an oil change and replacement of headlight. They did a complete check on my car and told me things I needed to consider replacing on the car due to the mileage, no other repair place had ever told me this before.

$42 for a tire plug, and tire was brought off the vehicle! No more $.99 anymore...

I brought my vehicle in to get a simple leak inspected and to get a quote on the repair. After about 30 minutes, they had me come back and pointed out rust on my subframe and a new leak, separate from the one I originally had. I was confused at first since there was no puddle in that spot in my driveway, but didn’t think much of it. However, after the inspection, I was blown away that the mechanic hadn’t noticed the original leak yet, even though it was extremely obvious from under the lift. After another 10 minutes, they finished inspecting the original leak and gave me quotes for everything. Conveniently, the new leak was the only one they said they could fix that day. The following day there is now a new puddle under my car and regardless of the small chances that it could coincidence I will not be taking any vehicles back there and would suggest being caution with repairing your vehicle here.

Shoddy workmanship and untrustworthy! The mechanic left greasy hand prints on my car door, handle and steering wheel, I understand that it's dirty work but most places wipe up the mess when they are done. I went in for a broken break line that they were able to fix for a reasonable price and in a reasonable amount of time but I had to bring it back in because my breaks became squishy and I had to push the petal to the floor to stop. My assumption was that they didn't bleed the breaks properly and that by bringing it back in they would fix their mistake and not charge me, my assumption was wrong. They charged me $45 for an inspection fee and drew up an inspection report that claimed that my tires were the wrong size and that my left rear caliper was bad. The estimate that they gave me was to replace both rear calipers and a $150 charge for a break fluid change. First off they just replaced my broken break line where all of my fluid drained out except what was in the other 3 lines so I have new fluid already! My tires were worn but they were not the wrong size. I had my rear calipers inspected elsewhere and nothing was wrong with them. They were making up problems so they could get more work/money out of me. After they did the inspection my breaks were fine so basically I paid them $45 to fix they mistake that they wouldn't admit they made.

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. I honestly believe I was taken advantage of. I had called to see about bringing my vehicle in and described in detail what the issues were. I understand that they would obviously have to do their own inspection but when I asked about the “charge “ not once but TWICE I was told no. And I expressed gratitude because I had already paid another mechanic shop for the inspection. Trust and believe I knew the cost for the repairs would not be inexpensive but with the recommendation I had high hopes the total cost would be less than my first estimate. Two major let downs I have- instead of replacing two tires I was given an additional estimate for the tires alone- when originally with the estimate I was under the assumption that those tires were included. I assumed because I made it a clear point that I absolutely needed those tires replaced. But the service advisor (I believe his name is William/Bill) was quick to elaborate how they rotated my tires AT NO CHARGE. I had to hold my breath so I didn’t say anything rude. He made it seem like they did me a favor../ which is definitely not the case because the tires are NOT safe to drive on, whether or not they are placed in the front or back. There is also charges on my invoice that was NOT discussed previously. The second MAJOR let down was an issue that I myself had to bring up. Even after the CHARGED inspection they were not aware of. The shift cable bushing needed to be repaired. Well they installed a new one but didn’t repair the problem. Less than 10 minutes after we left the shop my son was at kwik trip to fill up gas tank. Well the car wouldn’t shift out of park. Thank goodness for google because I was able to move the shifter under the hood myself to get the car to shift. Yes I called the shop to discuss my frustration and let them know about the current situation, and not being able to shift out of park. The service advisors only solution was to get it towed back to shop. Absolutely disgusted. I ended up driving car back to the shop where a mechanic listened to my concerns but didn’t have a solution. My son and I left extremely discouraged. If you’ve read this entire review thank you.
